Background

The Constitution Party of Utah is a qualified state political party that, as of October 2024, had 6,863 active registered members. The party and its candidates advocate for a strict conservative view of the United States Constitution and the law. There are no known elected officials from the Constitution Party for partisan offices; although the national Constitution Party claims that eight members of the Constitution Party hold nonpartisan elected offices in Duschene, Tooele, and Morgan counties.

Ideology

The Constitution Party of Utah advocate for a strict conservative view of the United States Constitution and the law, including the following positions contained in its State Platform:

Anti-Abortion: The party opposes abortion under any circumstances, believing that life begins at fertilization. Further, the party is opposed to “the funding and legalization of bio-research involving human embryonic cells.”

Firearm Access: Absolute defense of the right to bear arms.

Federalism: Advocates for nullifying unconstitutional federal laws.

Anti-LGBTQ: Opposes same-sex marriage and adoption.

Anti-Welfare: Calls for removing all federal welfare programs.

Christian Nationalism: Supports government policies grounded in Christian values.
