Background
Loving Liberty Network is an internet-based, far-right talk radio station, also available as a mobile app on the Apple App Store. It was founded in August 2018 as Loving Liberty, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of Saint George, Utah that operates to “promote preservation of constitutional principles and liberties,” although from a very right-wing stance.
Ideology
Loving Liberty Network is primarily an internet radio station that airs live and pre-recorded segments of shows not produced by the organization itself. Those shows aired on the network include, but are not limited to, the following:
CSC Talk Radio is a daily far right talk show that takes on “big government, mega-corporations and environmental extremists.” Hosted by Beth Ann, its episodes tend to lean into anti-government beliefs, with online materials professing that the current American government is composed of “tyrants” and that there must be a “restoration” of our “republic.”
Washington Watch airs every weekday and is carried on “DirecTV, nearly 100 Christian TV stations, various streaming channels as well as over 800 radio stations across the country.” The show is hosted by Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, a designated hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The show regularly features interviews with federal elected officials, lending credibility to other content on the show, including extreme policy stances and far right propaganda.
Liberty Roundtable is hosted by the founder of Liberty News Radio, Sam Bushman, “and friends.” The show is self-described as “a hard-hitting, constitutional, talk radio show.” It regularly highlights anti-immigrant news and analysis, and often features Scott Bradley, founder of Freedoms Rising Sun, as a guest.
Point of View is a daily radio talk show that began broadcasting in 1972. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the talk radio show “has thoroughly covered the full spectrum of issues and current events that affect faith, family, government, education, and our Constitutional freedoms.” Of course, this coverage is from a far-right viewpoint and includes anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and other areas of hate speech.
On its website, Loving Liberty Network also hosts a variety of videos on different subjects, some of which include a video on “detransitioning” and another claiming that “teacher unions are using teacher dues to fund abortions.” The website also directs members or visitors to a number of different “courses” on the constitution, with the featured course coming from an “ally” of the Network, the “National Center for Constitutional Studies, which used to be known as The Freemen Institute, founded by ultraconservative author W. Cleon Skousen.”
