Ideology
Like other sovereign citizen movements, American State Assembly believes that the United States of America as we know it today is a corporate sham, believing at some point that our government swapped out a foundation of common law for maritime, or “Admiralty,” law. Enlightened “sovereign citizens” must take specific steps to correct their status, after which they typically begin to stop complying with laws of the states and cities they live in. People can spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have these documents “properly” prepared.

Utah Connections
Each state ostensibly has a “state assembly,” made up of a general assembly (all sovereign citizens), an executive assembly, and a “jural” assembly, though there isn’t any record of a functioning Utah State Assembly, other than a mention on the national assembly’s website.
